My Story…

I initially trained in nutritional therapy so that I could offer a 360 holistic approach to support clients with skin problems, muscle and joint pain.

The brain, skin, muscles and bone are connected to the gut; we have the gut-brain-axis, gut-skin-axis, gut-muscle-axis and gut-bone-axis. Therefore, an imbalance in the gut and gut dysfunction can hugely influence low mood, skin issues and increased pain in muscles and joints.

It made perfect sense for me to join the dots up and learn how food and nutrition could be used to support a healthy gut in order to improve skin problems and reduce pain, alongside my practice in holistic massage therapy, skincare, pain reduction and stress relief.

Then I got sick…

With a severe parasitic helminth infection in my intestines, with what is known as an incredibly heavy ‘parasite burden’ i.e. the volume of parasites in my intestines was off the Richter scale.

I worked with an excellent infectious disease Consultant under supervised medication cycles to reduce the parasite burden. I used nutritional therapy to correct nutritional deficiencies affecting my gut function; rebuild my gut microbiome (bacteria) and address a number of biochemical imbalances to support my immune system.

In the process I made drastic improvements to my mental health, skin and reduced all pain and inflammation in my muscles and joints.

Before I’d made the parasite discovery I didn’t understand why I was in so much pain in my muscles and joints despite my dedication to physiotherapy exercises prescribed from an excellent physiotherapist. I couldn’t work out why my body, particularly my appendages were covered in pimples; my mouth had an open wound in the corner, known as ‘angular chelitis’, that would not heal; I felt overwhelmed with stress, anxiety and depression; and I seemed to be developing ongoing gastrointestinal symptoms.

A happier, healthier me…

Being a student of nutritional therapy at the time turned out to be an incredible coincidence, that enabled me to navigate through the journey which was at times unpleasant to the point of devastation. But I learned a lot along the way and from trauma came transformation.

I am much fitter and healthier than I was pre-infectious disease. I am a happier and more peaceful version of me.

Most importantly I have developed the skills to support clients to build a resilient immune system, reduce anxiety, optimise their gut function and rebalance from digestive problems; including many intestinal parasitic specimens and other areas of gut dysfunction too.
